Miss Angelou-
When I came home from school today, I found out that you’d passed away. I’ve known about you my whole life since my sister is partially named after you, I told my mom how “terribly upsetting” this is. You were an incredibly strong person and a phenomenal writer. I wish I could’ve heard you speak, I’ve only seen tapes of you reading your poems before. In the fifth grade, I had to write a poem based on another poem, and I chose “I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings” as my model. You inspire me, and will continue to be a role model to me. You will be missed, but all of your work will still be around.
Love,
Yael
