Hi guys! Ahhh, I’m so excited! I’m in Disney!! We woke up at 2:30ish and headed to the airport, and landed in Florida around 9:30 this morning.

When we arrived at our resort, our room wasn’t ready yet so we had some time to explore. We are staying at Kidani Village at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, and it’s really cool here. When we explored early, we had time to check out the Sunshine Savannah on property. It’s right in the middle of the resort so there are balconies everywhere and viewing decks as well to watch the animals. My sister and I went out onto the deck and saw giraffes, zebras, okapi, and a bunch of other animals. So we observed them for awhile and then met up with our family and spent the rest of the day with them.

We went to lunch at Sanaa, the in-house restaurant. I had pizza on naan bread and it was so delicious. 

And in the middle of lunch, we got a visitor:

Then we had Savanna S’mores for dessert. It was basically crushed up graham crackers and Oreos, with caramel and marshmallows. It was also very good, but also very filling after a few bites.

After that, we went back out to the balcony for awhile and learned a couple of the animals’ names. This is Luna, a baby giraffe, and my favorite animal of the day:

Eventually, all of the animals got together, and it was a perfect photo-op.

Soon our room was ready so we went to go check it out. We had a savanna view and it was so cool. The animals came so close to us, it was a really great experience.

We said goodbye to our friends and then set out again. We participated in an African drumming activity and learned different patterns, then went down to the viewing deck again. At night, guests can borrow night-vision goggles and look for animals. The only ones we could find were zebras, but it was fun looking for them.  Plus, the main building looked really nice all lit up and the light fixtures inside were meant to look like torches so they looked very cool illuminated.

It was the perfect day, and I can’t wait to stay here again. I’m off to bed now, but I’ll check in-in the morning!
