Surprise! The BIG news is finally out… I interviewed the fabulous Justina of A Bent Piece of Wire!
I recently got the chance to interview Justina via email which is pretty cool, & I fan-girled when I saw her reply in my inbox. I hope you’re as excited about this as I am. I’m so thankful to Justina for letting me do this, you were so kind to me & I really appreciate you doing this.
You should definitely follow A Bent Piece of Wire & keep up with Justina… she’s awesome. Now on with the interview xx
How did you decide to create a blog/what inspired you to?
Justina: Ahh this a story I’ll never get over telling. When I was 12, I read an article in Harpers Bazaar by another teenage fashion blogger about her experience at NYFW and thought “Oh, I can do that.” My mum thought it was just a phase, and said as much. I took it as a challenge.
How did you start fashion blogging/make your blog fashion-based?
See above.
What was the best thing you’ve gotten to do because of/from your blog? Ex: The Today Show, your Teen Vogue shoot, KCA’s?
Oh there’s been so many wonderful things, many of which you’ve mentioned, but the best is definitely the people I’ve had the opportunity to meet and the friends I’ve made. Fashion opened my world.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given? Best blog advice?
Best advice across the board: be yourself, no matter what. It’s hard to stick to sometimes, but I’m much better off for it.
Best advice you’ve given?
Everything on this page: http://www.abentpieceofwire.tumblr.com/advice
How’d you come up with the name for your blog?
My brother did, actually! I went through a lot of really cliched blog names when he just said “Justina, call it A Bent Piece Of Wire. That’s what an empty hanger is.”
Who’s your Blog-spiration or blog role model?
I don’t really have a blog-spiration, but my life-spiration is Ellen Degeneres, forever.
What are some of your goals for the future for your blog & life in general?
To have fun. I’ve always said that when I’m not having fun anymore I’ll find something else to do.
What do you want to study when you’re older & where?
Wherever I feel like I’ll learn what I want or need to learn, I suppose.
If you could go anywhere right now, where would you go?
London. Or maybe Amsterdam. I have an affinity for the Dutch. And clogs.
If you could go back in time and redo something, when & where would you go and what would you do?
Hmmm….I don’t think I would. If there’s anything I’ve learned from my many hours spent bingeing on Dr. Who, it’s that messing about with history is never a good idea.
If you were to collaborate with someone for something like a fashion line, event, etc. or co-host something with them, who would it be?
Valentino. The man himself. I would absolutely love to work with him, even if it’s only to design socks.
In one word how do you describe your style?
Bright.
If you could go to any fashion week which one would you go to?
Paris or London for sure. New York has never held much appeal for me. I love Paris’ couture shows, and how fantastically off-kilter London is.
